Growth & comfort can not coexist

For some people, that might be eating vegetables, for others might be meditating. I personally struggle with the unknown and uncontrollable. Whatever the problem in your life is, most likely is caused by fear of discomfort. Think about it.

See discomfort isn’t an intense pain. It’s a feeling you get when you are out of your comfort zone. So once you enter the discomfort it’s quite natural to run away. The problem is that when you run from discomfort all the time, you are restricted to a small zone of comfort, and so you miss out on most of life.

One of my mentors used to say: “ If you sit through discomfort, growth happens”. That stick with me, so lately Ive been practicing on recognizing where the discomfort comes from and try to sit and watch. Doesn’t work all the time. Sometimes I react on my impulses, sometimes I run away and there are also times when I try to rationalize. But the times I managed to sit trough it was not as bad as I thought would be. My mind didn’t implode and the world didn’t end. I was uncomfortable for a bit and then life moved on.

If you are able to learn to sit through discomfort, your life will have almost no limits. Learn to get out of your comfort zone, explore the unknown and treasure the experiences. Choose to stop running away from growth!

What are you running away from?

xx,

M
